Sabarimala Controversy - Troll of MMM on FB about the checking of the age of women visitors

The Keralam Minister M.M.Mani exclaimed that there is no instrument to detect the age of a woman in an attempt to justify the uselessness of preventing women of a certain age from visiting Sabarimala. A troll replied thus ...

"You do get such an instrument when you graduate from school. It's called a 'certificate'. You can determine the age of the person just by looking at it. You don't know about it because you haven't been to school ".

Background info: The minister is a school dropout and rose through the ranks of the Communist Party of India (Marxist faction) through strong arm tactics which he gloats about. He is a known blabber mouth. He utters nonsense in harmony with both his communist ideology AND his lack of formal education - the latter of which unfortunately did not engender any ability to see beyond statist propaganda and brainwashing in him. But it on the other hand honed his survival instincts. This is probably due to the indoctrination camps he attended as a youth that were run by the CPI(M) Kerala and the general "saghav" (comrade) atmosphere he grew up in where ideas entered his head through social osmosis.

Sabarimala Franco Comparison on FB

I saw this Facebook post https://www.facebook.com/HindusandHumanRights/posts/2347913305219977 ...

The post is written thusly ...

"Non-Hindus wanting to liberate Hindu women from Sabarimala and Hinduism...set your house in order first
Kerala: Catholic Church threatens to expel nun for protesting against rape-accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal"

There a many fallacies here which I will leave as an exercise for the reader. I will just point out that all non-Hindus don't take orders from the Kerala Catholic Church authorities (and even many Catholics in their secular lives). Also it is pertinent to note that the Catholic Church to my knowledge has not mentioned a word about about the "Sabarimala Women's Entry" controversy or for that matter in any Hindu tradition or ritual covertly or overtly in the history of its presence in India.

for which the following was my response ...

which got deleted once and this is a screenshot of my posting it again. Fortunately I was writing this article and so had a cut and paste version 'in memory'.

-----------------

Dear Admins, this is a very immature and false accusation on your part. First of all, the nature of those who are trying to get women of a traditionally forbidden age entry into the Sabarimala Temple is not 'non-Hindu' as sulked by you. This is a internecine war among Hindus alone. It was the RSS and some factions of the Congress Party which wanted to initially get access for women into Sabarimala to parade (in future) the contributions they have done for "women's welfare". The RSS switched its position when it saw the groundswell of Hindu (and Hindu supporting minority community) opposition to it. The RSS (and the Supreme Court) was / are trying to force a uniform North Indian type of Hinduism on all of India symptomatic of their narrow mindedness and geography of origin. Various Churches and the IUML party have come out in support of the traditionalists against the Supreme Court interfering in the practices of our Hindu brethren but then this would be counter to your narrative so you don't mention it. Yes there are all kinds of Hindus and non-Hindus on both sides of the conflict but the traditionalists have no idea (and possible no desire in many cases on) how to take the help of their non-Hindu sympathisers who are anyway rightfully reluctant to voice an opinion in matters that do not concern them directly. The feminist and leftist camps have however no qualms about shamelessly using non-Hindu friends who also like them - since birds of a feather flock together - have no moral compass and get their fingers into a debate that does not concern them.

The reason Fr.Franco was not arrested despite the brouhaha raised by the press is twofold - 1) There needs to be ample evidence to support his arrest. You don't just go and arrest any man accused by any woman. The fact that he is an important figure should not protect him just as the fact that his accuser is a nun or even just an ordinary woman be a reason to persecute him. There is a rule of law and it exists for a reason ... 2) There were more than 2 dozen accusations against the members of the communist party at that time of molestation of women. By not allowing the arrest of Franco even after it was permissible or warranted , the CPM CM managed to keep the attention of the press and public away from his party members who were being protected from their victims' legal actions.

Regarding the Catholic Church and the nun, there is a mechanism and legal framework to protest or complain to the church authorities which she could have used. That she chose to not do so OR probably was unsatisfied with the results if she did so, is why she chose to go to the police. When that didn't seem to work to her satisfaction, she went to the public and sitting on a protest is part of that. There are guidelines of behaviour for religious, clergy and others in the employment of the Church. You cannot violate them or use situations to act in a manner that brings disrepute to the church, even if you are innocent. I am not saying that she is lying , nor am I saying that she is truthful. There are mechanisms in place which may or may not be efficient in achieving the desired results. They may even be slow. But throwing tantrum or supporting someone who does so is childish and shows the immaturity of both the performer and the supporter.

I pasted it a second time and it got deleted again. It used to be the 3rd comment. It is now the 4th comment. in this screenshot. Let's see what happens ...

Yup it got deleted again ... Another point to note was that I was someone who had earlier liked the page. It seems I have unliked the page now. How this happened is a mystery to me.

Any guesses why a pro-Sabarimala status quo post has to be deleted by a Hindu right wing page ? Make your own guess ... Anyway here is the URL followed by the screenshot of the Indian Express Page to protect from URL death.

Comparing Reservations in Jobs and Academic Seats to Winning Olympic Medals

Written in a response to this post on FB and this one both of which can be sourced from here and from here respectively.

To begin with, as a self appointed Grammar Nazi, I need to get the Anglotoxic errors out of the way. You might ask me  if you are "sitting in a grammar class? 😫😴" to which my reply is that

"Grammatical consistency is usually required to make unambiguous logical statements. I cite the deviation from standard usage as a prelude to the logical fail which I will illustrate below."

So without much further ado ...

******************************************************
Grammar Fail

This is one of the corrected versions

Because of *the* reservation*s* I couldn't get *a* job
>> use of *the*
>> *any* -> *a*
>>This means he was in a list of people prevented from getting a job.

There isn't any reservation at **the** Olympics. How many **medels -> medals** did you get ?
>>use of *the* and spelling
******************************************************

Now on to the more serious points of view. It is a tragedy that this kind of logic gets mass circulation in many parts of the world especially India. Let me cover some of the errors that I compiled and categorized.

Logic Fail

The skills required to win a medal at the Olympics are very different from those required at most real world jobs. The complainer is prevented from competing where it matters to him.

Also unfairness in one context does not justify unfairness at another.

Social Contract Fail

He is prevented from competing for a vacancy by an establishment whose existence is supported by him in taxes (other than possibly Income Taxes which he might not be paying).

Political Rights Fail

The establishment has a duty to be unbiased (i.e neither favourably nor unfavourably) towards him and other (citizens) competing for government jobs - except on merit.

Statistics Fail

2,102 is the number of gold, silver and bronze medals that will be awarded to the athletes competing in the Olympic Games. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the total population of the world is approximately 7,343,760,000. This gives a ratio of 3,493,701 people per medal.

Is it as easy to get an Olympic medal as it is to get a government job in India ? Going by the same ratio and taking the current Indian population as 1,328,686,000 we would have 380 jobs only. At this number even IITians and IAS exam toppers would be jobless.

Economics Fail

Athletes are people with few employable skills. They are usually unemployable without their past or present reputations and make no valuable contribution to society other than the entertainment value of their participation in a sport. Also not every sportsperson (Olympic or otherwise) has a decent career after their participation days are over. Their work experience will be of little use to most employers. This is not so in the case of those who work at productive tasks that are useful to humanity.

However at administrative jobs the skill increases with each year and the populist nepotism committed at entry level vacancies is rarely punished or of a great loss to society. Even in cases where society at large suffers, the market forces have no ameliorating effect  as government organisations usually have a monopoly or at the very least a guaranteed protection from bankruptcy.

Marketing Fail

Reservations at the Olympics would also make people lose interest at the rigged results. Who wants to watch a non-meritocratic contest ?

Why Cardin is an Idiot !

This post is in response to an article titled

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First the numbers ...

China has 18.6%, India has 17.9% and the USA has 4.4% of the world population. That means India is 4.07 times as big as the US in population.

In Square Kilometres, the USA is 3rd with 9.8 million , China is 4th with 9.6 million and India is 7th with 3.3 million. That means the USA has almost 3 times the landmass as India does.

India has only 3.9 people per 1000 in defense while the USA has 7.3 making the US 1.87 times more militarised per capita than India in relative terms.

India has around 4.8 million defense personnel which is approximately double that of the USA with around 2.3 million. However the US defense budget leads the world with around $569.3 billion per year compared to 6th placed India with $49.7 billion. That's a multiple of 11.45 . The US defense budget is more than double that of China, the 2nd on the list, with $190.9 billion.

The nominal GDP of the USA is 1st at 17.9 Trillion USD and that of India is 7th at 2 Trillion USD. So the US is 9 times richer in absolute terms.

Allowing for minor corrections like disputed territories and various estimates, this means India is a country that is almost 12 times as dense as the US. And per capita wise, the US is 36 times richer than India. But it spends 45.8 times on defense per citizen as does India. And India has never aggressed on another country. All its wars were wars of defense. The USA on the other hand ...

In such a crowded, beleaguered and poor country as India it will not be easy to match the USA on the cherry picked matrices Cardin attempts to pompously lecture India on. It is very hypocritical to lecture India on the Gujarat riots when the US bombed the hell out of Iraq, Laos, Germany and Japan. The number of deaths in India due to mob violence may well be below that of the US if taken on a per capita basis. An extremely multi-cultural India has tremendous amount of religious freedom despite being more than 85% Hindu at Independence. The more ethnically diverse but culturally uniform United States is no comparison. While the US forced the Japanese emperor to renounce his Shinto religion bestowed Divinity, India at tremendous cost to itself gave shelter to the Dalai Lama and his entourage against what was at that time a far superior Chinese Army.

Regarding the treatment of women or minorities, it would be silly to proclaim India as a paragon of virtue but yet again if we fall back on the huge numbers and use it as a denominator, India might well come out on top or at least not appear as bad when its poverty is taken into consideration. Though not as good as some more free market economies, human rights is far better in India today for Indians than it was when it was ruled by the British or by the various invading armies from the North West. As regards the few - but still unforgivable - extra-judicial killings, not that their lives don't matter - they do, #alllivesmatter - India, at least doesn't have a military industrial complex or intelligence agency more powerful than its democratic entities and does not kill its elected rulers. Before spouting sermons, the US should at the very least, first be able to honestly solve the JFK murder. Isn't it odd that the CIA and the FBI still can't seem to solve it ?

Maybe this Cardin asshole should take his head out of his butt before he tells other people how to run their country.

The US politician and media imperiously deems that one must measure everything by their 'Politically Correct' standards because they are "exceptional". However, like in most countries, the man on the street is usually better than his politician. Most Americans I have met on my travels are one of the nicest people among all expats without 'exception'. This is of course the opposite of the US politician 'which' (who?) is the worst sociopath on the planet , so bad that I have to admit even India's politicians are better in comparison. Anglo-American politicians are definitely the most devious and most subtle in today's world. In emerging nations, when a despot is bad, most people are aware of it. It's much more obvious. The US has career sociopaths are very practiced in their arts and understanding them is a full time job which the average tax slave has scant time to devote to.

Why the natives have better road manners outside Keralam !

This was a meme I saw on Facebook today. It apparently says that a top police official in Keralam named Rishi Raj who is from a northern Indian state is asking the following ...

"(He) obeys the traffic laws in the gulf
but when (he) comes to his homeland (he) gives it zero value..
When the law is made strict and/or enforced strictly,
why are they protesting ?"
https://www.facebook.com/DailyIndianHeraldnews/photos/a.124366014390370.25968.116185185208453/531106153716352

I am not very familiar with Mr.RR personally but I know him to be a very popular and controversial figure in Keralam. To me it seems unlikely that RR would say something like this. I feel that this is a work of fiction where someone has put words in his mouth. But let us assume that he did say the words. In that case my reply is as follows ...

Because ...
1. Generic Reason : Foreigners / Expats almost always behave better than the locals as they can be deported if they behave in an unacceptable fashion.
2. Specific Reason : The roads in the "gelf" are far superior to and wider than those in Keralam ! In Kerala we have rivers when it rains where there are supposed to be roads. There is no value for the road tax we pay here in Keralam.

Conveniently ignored is the fact that almost ALL Indians and I dare say MOST South Asians ignore the restrictions on their activities - especially driving - when they can. At least in Keralam, they don't turn as violent as in other places and law enforcement is relatively easier than in most places.

"Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against—then you'll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We're after power and we mean it.

You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you'd better get wise to it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted—and you create a nation of law-breakers—and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Rearden, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with." - Atlas Shrugged

Keralites get bullied by their government for exceeding the speed limit in roads - especially the MC (Main Central) - in spots where it is perfectly safe to do so just to increase the revenue through fines. There are very few or no speed cameras where they are needed like in crowded areas or accident prone areas. This is because the amount of "fine based revenue" from such spots is negligible. The cops are thus not safety caretakers but extortion agents of a parasitical political structure. Why else would the authorities force people to drive slower in places where the conditions are excellent for faster driving ? This reminds me of the speed limit on trains in Atlas Shrugged where the Union of Locomotive Engineers demanded that the maximum speed for all trains on the Rio Norte Line be reduced to 60 miles per hour, and the Union of Railway Conductors and Brakemen demanded that the length of all trains on the line be reduced to 60 cars.

A large section of the Keralite population are vicarious dictators who enjoy sadistically watching others suffer, imagining themselves as the ones who are exercising the power. The state bureaucracy is their 'political party' agnostic means of doing this.

“The state is that great fiction by which everyone tries to live at the expense of everyone else.”

National Socialism - Kerala Style - Part 1 - Vizhinjam

This article is not to be in any way construed as a show of support for the Adani Group of Companies, the Narendra Modi government or the Oommen Chandy government. It is one explanation of the author's views on why he thinks the CPM's so called "anti-racist" policies and "egalitarianism" is false and opportunistic. It should be noted that this article is critical of the Communists in Keralam AND NOT in support of the Fascists in New Delhi.

How many of you know that the Nazism of the Third Reich is actually a type of Socialism? Adolf Hitler's Nazi party is actually the short form of  The National Socialist German Workers' Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly referred to in English as the Nazi Party (/ˈnɑːtsi/), was a political party in Germany active between 1920 and 1945 that practiced Nazism.

Some say it was Socialist only in name, that it was a racist ideology and all about German supremacy. No so fast. Yes, there was the hate for Jews and many other "undesirables". But in essence it was an ideology of envy of a larger group blaming a smaller group (which was not necessarily richer but perceived to be so). The Nazis had many collaborators in Vichy France and Quislings in Norway. Many of the Ukrainians who served as guards in their concentration camps went on to keep the flames of this ideology alive through generations to help cause the present day turmoil in Ukraine and overthrow a democratically elected government in Kiev which was about a year away from elections.

Those who are accustomed to class warfare and blaming 'the other' know no other rhetoric. The CPM has for decades helped many people in Kerala who resent the good fortune or success of others to hide their envy behind a veneer of altruistic social concern and religious tolerance. CPM is the popular shortened form of CPI(Marxist) which broke away from it's parent party the CPI.

V.S. Achuthanadan, the former chief minister of Keralam warns against awarding the contract of the Vizhinjam Port to Adani due to his xenophobic reasons. [ Here is a snapshot of the The Hindu article to protect against url change ].

In the meme I saw on FB yesterday, he says that "If Vizhinjam Port is constructed by Adani, then only Gujaratis will get jobs". The maker of this meme asks him if the "Dubai" port at Vallarpadam is worked by Arabs.

The other words at the bottom of the meme picture are reminders of the luddite blunders said by the leaders of the CPM , especially VS in the past.
  • They had opposed using computers in general , especially in government offices as it would result in the loss of jobs.
  • They had opposed tractors in farms as it would result in the loss of jobs for farm hands, a primary support base of theirs.
  • They had opposed the construction of the new International Kochi Airport.
    • But their opposition was not in support of the farmers whose highly productive land was forcibly usurped from them by the State Government but due to many other frivolous reasons.
  • Now they oppose Vizhinjam.
    • But shy from explicitly saying that it is because of the Adani-Modi cronyism. Saying so would make them mere opposers of their political party's opponents. That would look like they were sulking. It also does not help them take the moral high ground.

I also oppose the last 2 but for different reasons - as those were based on what the US govt might call "eminent domain" - reasons in violation of private property rights and free markets. One should not forget that the meme was most likely made by a right wing sanghi or congress party crony.

First the Utilitarian arguments. (Because people respond to incentives and not Kantian arguments).
  • Why would Gujaratis migrate in droves from their far more market friendly state with far more job opportunities to Keralam where the climate and food are very different ?
  • Even if a disproportionate(?) number of Gujaratis came, to work here, is it not better for the management to hire people whom they are more comfortable from an ethnic and work culture POV ?
  • Won't the arrival of these "immigrants" develope the local economy from ways not fathomed by the "central planners" of all hues of white, yellow, blue, green, red and saffron ?
  • Fortunately most Gujjus are not too bothered by such silliness and are very pragmatic businessmen. They are  aware of the demagoguery politicians have to resort to. But suppose they were an easily inflammable community? Would this kind of rhetoric not cause Keralites working in Gujarat to experience blowback ? What if the Arabs in the GCC countries thought this way ?
  • Isn't it better for the management to utilize their existing labour force who are trained in the ways of the company instead of hiring locals who may not be suitable?

Second the Moral arguments. (Because a satiated parasite will gladly give and take free advice and have no 'stomach' to argue)
  • This is a racist and irresponsible statement.
  • In an age when people are trying to get past artificial "borders" and visa "paper" requirements why is this person opposing the employment of people who share the same citizenship ?
  • What right does he have to tell the Adanis whom they should be and should not be employing ?

The Adanis are no angels and the environmental damage they have wreaked over the natural ecosystems that the local populations in Gujarat depended upon is a study in cronyism practiced by Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister. The below video is statist in many ways and does not have Sveccham's approval but it serves to illustrate the kind of company the Adani company keeps. The inability of the CPM to criticize the Adanis or the Modi government for the right reasons shows their moral poverty as well.
The below video is however more Libertarian in spirit.  It is also a case of the tragedy of the commons where if the land had belonged to the communities that lived of it, and the government could not seize it from them, they would have been happier. It is a shame that the people of India, Gujarat, Keralam and Vizhinjam in particular have to be the victims of mis-allocation of capital by the modern day Stalinists and Fascists of India.

Welcome To Our Website ... www.ukfcet.ac.in

Today a friend (RJK) emailed the link to the home page of a website of an Engineering college in Keralam.

His desperate question to me was
Of all the names, UKFC of Engineering & Technology
I dont get it. Is it that difficult to get a decent name? ".

Though I was appalled at the standard of writing on the Home Page, I was not surprised at what the State of Education in THE State of Education has been reduced to. There are many things worth considering here. We first take a historical look at the stakeholders of Kerala society.

In keeping with their altruistic and suicidal mindsets, for years, both 'the Catholic Church'  and - its bastard offspring - 'the Left', abhorred "Professional" Colleges. A profession in this article will mean an activity you could work at and "earn money". Oh the horrors - " 'selling something as nobil aas edukayshun for mani ! How could you ?', 'Teaching people a profitable trade/skill/knowledge ! Why don't you tell them to serve their fellow men and work for humanity?' ", etc. They were generally supported by the other (mostly collectivist) participants in Kerala society in where Merchants are considered 'cheap' or 'mean' people and only Land Owners or Factor Owners or Government Employees or Political Leaders or Religious Leaders are to be respected.

In this moronic but highly "educated" society in Keralam these days, Medicine and Engineering are considered the only 2 professions considered "respectable" . The Left opposed approving and starting private Medical and Engineering colleges for many years. So what did Keralites do? They went to the gelf (willing to do anything or to Africa usually as teachers), made a lot of money and sent their kids to the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to learn anything that was useful in the job market - MBBS, BDS, B.E, Nursing, MBA, etc. The Church was particularly disinclined to start Engineering Colleges as it "was not as noble as being a Nurse or Doctor" and "did not serve humanity".

The dynamic duo then had a change of heart. They suddenly decided that it was all good. Fiat Lux. And then there was light. Then the big bang happened, the sudden explosion of Engineering and Medical colleges out of a desert of cogunut tree greenery. The left and it's puppet student wing the SFI quietly grumbled and made a fuss but not strongly enough to oppose the entry of private players. Even so, they did try to usurp control of the private colleges once the money had been spent by the managements. This has been a regular pattern on Keralam over the past 6 decades. Oppose the rich guy. Make him wait a long time before he can invest any money. Then let him do it - act uninterested. Once he has reached a point of no return, harass him and usurp as much control as you can of HIS PROPERTY so that you can then play Elsworth Toohey.

The Christian Churches (mostly Catholic ones) on their part now have around 7 Engg colleges of their own and even their own private Engg University. Maybe they finally realised that the Industrial and IT Revolutions have done more for Humanity than Mother Theresa and the Dark Ages. Maybe it just made good business sense.

This explosion in quantity has - as can be expected - brought with it a decrease in the overall quality of the colleges and the students. They now try all kinds of tricks to recruit students and this free-er market in education has made Engineering, Medical and Management Education accessible to many more natives than it was a decade ago. It has also brought down the cost of Engineering and Management, drastically - if one factors in inflation. The SFI's opposition to Private Colleges was that poor students would be denied an "equal" opportunity. Well maybe they preferred it the way it was back then - when we were an egalitarian society -  where everyone was unemployed and miserable - EQUALLY !

The standards have also gone down in the way the colleges present themselves. Besides the poor grammar and spelling, they have shown some students who definitely don't look Keralite or Malayali but Caucasian. Oh Well ! I guess with 2nd generation Malayalis coming back home from abroad for a cheaper education, we need to make them feel at home and maybe get them to drag a few of their friends along too ... show them some Multiculturalism and create a nascent market for Educational Tourism and whatever new market there is to milk revenues from.
